Takaoka City Area: The manufacturing town

The marathon starts near Takaoka Kojo Park, which consists of the remains of Takaoka Castle, built by Lord Maeda Toshinaga.
It then passes in front of the Great Buddha of Takaoka, one of Japan's 3 Great Buddhas, before walking through Yamachosuji, an area designated as a Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings before passing in front of Takaoka Sekino Shrine, made famous by the Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival.
The marathon then turns around in front of the Hokuriku Shinkansen's Shin-Takaoka Station, designed with vertical lattices reminiscent of historical buildings.

Imizu City Area: Bounties of the Land and the Sea

The Imizu area is where the world-renowned beauty of Toyama Bay and the Tateyama Mountain Range are the most prominent.
The marathon takes you from a fishing port where you can feel the vibrant atmosphere of the fishermen selling the delicious bounties from Toyama Bay, to the Shinminato Bridge, a panorama spot which can only be enjoyed on foot during this race, all while admiring the Kaiwomaru sailing ship, affectuously known as the Lady of the Seas.

Pass in front of the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design, and the finish line is just past the urban oasis that is the Toyama Prefecture Fugan Canal Kansui Park.
